Oleg Konstantinovich Popov was born in a small village in the Moscow region. Soon he moved with his family to the capital. In 1941, his father was repressed - he will never be able to forget the pain of loss. During the war he worked as a mechanic at a printing plant, was engaged in a sports club (acrobatics). He entered the circus school, in his own words, because of the bread card. After the Great Patriotic War, due to a shortage of food, products were issued in limited quantities. The amount of bread per day assigned to the student of the circus school was 100 g per day more than the locksmith of the combine, and was 650 g. These 100 g and decided the fate of Oleg Popov, giving the world a talented clown, the owner of all possible circus prizes and awards.
The clown debut took place in 1951, in the same year the first tour of the USSR took place. The success of the young artist was so great that his number was included in the documentary Arena of the Bold (1953). This film with Oleg Popov became his first film work. This was followed by the circus film story Clubfoot Friend (1959), the children's film Lost Photo (1959), the comedy The Last Swindler (1966), adventure pictures for children Half an Hour for Miracles (1968), The Adventures of the Yellow Suitcase (1970) and A Happy Dream, or Laughter and Tears (1979).
