His career began in 1992 with over 800 radio appearances, which led to further television appearances. Herbig became more widely known after the comedy show "Bully Parade" with his friends Rick Cavagnan, Christian Tramitz and Diana Herold. The program included parodies of Star Trek, Westerns, and the Austrian film Sissi. He asked viewers to vote on which topic to film about the characters in the show, the first of which, the Moccasins Manitou, became one of the most successful German films to date in 2001, attracting over 11.7 million viewers. The second is the Space Watch. Episode 1 - became commercially successful and cemented Michael's career.
On January 7, 2008, it was announced in Variety magazine that Herbig would star in the film adaptation of the cartoon Vicky, the Little Viking.
