Tim Hunter ^ (born June 15, 1947) is an American film and television director, screenwriter. Since the late 1980s. he mainly worked in television, filming episodes of many television series, including Breaking Bad, Carnival, Investigation Jordan, Deadwood, Falcon Crest, Slaughter Department, Dr. House, Law and Order, Lie to Me, Mad Men, Twin Peaks, Chorus, Revenge, Pretty Little Liars and American Horror Story. In the mid-1980s, Hunter directed several feature films, including On the Riverbank in 1986, which won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Picture that year.
Tim Hunter was born in Los Angeles to British screenwriter Ian McLellan Hunter. He attended Harvard University and graduated in 1968.
In 1993, he refused to concede an Oscar to his late father for the 1953 screenplay for Roman Holiday, but when a Hollywood blacklist prevented Dalton Trumbo from selling his work, Dalton arranged for the elder Hunter to be credited. Subsequently, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences gave Trumbo's widow a compensation award.
