Olivia Wilde was born in New York to Leslie Cockburn, producer of the television show 60 Minutes, and journalist Andrew Cockburn. Olivia is the granddaughter of the famous Irish novelist and journalist Claude Cockburn and the niece of popular detective writer Sarah Caudwell.
Wilde attended Georgetown Day School in Washington and then Phillips Academy in Massachusetts. After her family moved to Dublin, Olivia entered The Gaiety School of Acting. She has published articles in the American online resource The Huffington Post. Part of the Artists For Peace And Justice association.
