Vitaly Leonov was born in October 1926 in Sverdlovsk. The mother of the future actor was a purebred gypsy and inherited her characteristic national traits.
Little Vitaly, like his peers, dreamed of the sea. After finishing eight grades, having learned about the recruitment to the Jung school, without thinking twice enters there. After graduating from school, gets a job as a helmsman on the destroyer "Karl Liebkhnet".
In 1947, on the advice of his captain (who noticed artistic talent in the young man), he entered the studio of the Murmansk Drama Theater. He later meets his second wife, but unfortunately, the marriage failed despite the birth of a son. After such failures on the personal front, Vitaly Leonov decides to return to his acting career.
The first films with Vitaly Leonov's participation: Makhtumkuli, Horsemen of the Revolution, Sons of the Fatherland The actor in these films, as in subsequent ones, played minor roles. The following year, he played a prominent role in the film Apples of 1941.
