Soviet actor Daniil Sagal was born and raised in the inconspicuous city of Yekaterinoslavl (now Dnepropetrovsk) in 1909. The future actor grew up among Jewish boys, from an early age he remembered a lot of interesting Jewish sayings and stories, prayers. Later, the Sagalov family moved to noisy and promising Moscow.
After a while, his father Lev Sagal decided to go to relatives in the United States in order to earn money and transfer his entire family abroad. But in those days it was very difficult, and therefore only in 1930 his wife, along with their youngest son, joined him. Three older brothers stayed to live and work in the USSR. Danil began to earn money in a printing house, and after a while he entered a theater school. In 1931, Danil successfully graduated from the acting studio, which existed at the V.E. Meyerhold Theater, later he worked in this theater for 7 years. In 1943-1989, the artist worked actively in the theater of the Soviet army. The first film with the participation of Daniil Sagal was released in 1934. This artist was a versatile person and therefore made an attempt to create the Theater of Film Veterans, but unfortunately, this idea failed.
Excellent films with Daniil Sagal have always been well received by the public. He starred in such works as Blockade, The Lost Expedition, Boxers, For Soviet Power, Mother's Heart and many others. For all his merits, Daniel was awarded the Stalin Prize of the second degree in 1950, as well as the "Soldier of Cinema" award. Despite his active and very successful creative activity, Sagal was unable to realize some of his dreams (for example, to play a character of Jewish nationality). Sagal died in 2002 at the age of 92 and was buried at the Vvedenskoye cemetery.
