The year 1871 became incredibly outstanding for all Ukrainian literature - it was then, in Novgorod-Volynsky, a daughter, Larisa, appeared in the Kosach family, who would later proclaim herself Lesya, whom Ivan Franko would later call one of the most courageous poets of Ukraine. Although Lesya was more like her father in character, the girl's writing talent was transferred to the girl, nevertheless, through the maternal side, because both her mother Elena Pchelka and uncle Mikhail Dragomanov were reputed to be very popular authors, were active in literary activity and were successfully published in various publications.
Lesya grew up as an affectionate, intelligent girl. She learned to read and write very early - so, at the age of four, she independently wrote letters to her grandmother in Gadyach and to her uncle abroad. The girl also loved to read, she was especially attracted by her folk art and folk songs.
In 1882, Kosachi moved to the village of Kolodyazhnoye, which is picturesquely spread out near Kovel. The incredible landscapes combined with local folk art did their job - it was this place that gave the first impetus to the writing of the famous Forest Song.
Until the age of ten, Lesya was an ordinary child and developed like all children - she played, ran around the yard, sometimes sat at the piano, read a lot, did not hesitate to do homework, gladly helping her mother. However, very soon a terrible grief will occur in the Kasach family ... On January 6, 1883, the girl will go to the river to see how the water is sanctified, and will freeze her legs. The numb limb will become the starting point for all those serious illnesses that the great poetess faced in her life - up to tuberculosis, which will become the cause of her sudden death.
Despite her poor health, the girl writes a lot, although the pains that followed her made the work process somewhat difficult. Her strong spirit, extraordinary love for life, running like a red thread through all the works of Ukrainka, did not let the girl give up. She lived a rather happy life - she was loved, revered and respected by many, and especially by her precious husband Clement Kvitka, with whom Lesya got married in 1907.
How many years Lesya Ukrainka lived in this world, for so many years she gave people indescribable emotions, inspired by the reading of her poetic motives.
