Born June 13, 1946 in Moscow. Graduated from the State Institute of Theater Arts (1968, course of Vasily Andreevich Orlov). In 1968-1974 he was an actor of the Moscow Youth Theater. In 1974-1983 he was an actor at the Mossovet Theater. Since 1983 he has been an actor at the Nikitsky Gate Theater Studio under the direction of Mark Rozovsky. In 1996-2000, he was an actor at the Gorky Moscow Art Academic Theater. In 2003, for a year, he was the presenter of the author's news TV show Territory of Survival on the NTV channel
Honored Artist of Russia (1992) .
Igor Starygin was officially married 5 times: Isakova, Lyudmila Ivanovna - actress Ardova, Mira Valerianovna - actress Tatiana Sukhacheva Tabashnikova (Starygina), Ekaterina Igorevna - photojournalist (editor of the photo department of the Sobesednik newspaper) (since 2006 - the last official wife of the actor). He left two children: Daughter Anastasia (1978) from his second marriage with actress Mira Ardova and an illegitimate son. His family also brought up his adopted daughter - Anna Ardova.
Igor Vladimirovich Starygin died at eight o'clock in the morning on November 8, 2009 in one of the Moscow hospitals from the consequences of a stroke, which he had suffered on September 20. The actor was buried on November 12 at the Troyekurovsky cemetery in Moscow.
On June 13, 2011 at 14:00 in the Alley of Actors at the Troyekurovsky cemetery in Moscow, the opening of the monument took place, timed to coincide with the 65th anniversary of the birth of Igor Starygin. The monument was erected with the participation of the People's Artist of the USSR Charitable Foundation named after Mikhail Ulyanov, which coordinated the fundraising for its erection.
