Lyudmila Gurchenko was born in one of the largest Ukrainian cities - Kharkov. The girl was born on November 12, 1935 into a musical family. Her childhood coincided with military events, after which Lyudmila was finally able to go to school. After graduation, the girl received an acting education in Moscow. Already a student, Lyudmila begins to play in the theater.
In 1956, the first film with Lyudmila Gurchenko, entitled The Road of Truth, was released. In the same year, viewers saw a film that made the actress unusually popular - in the musical comedy film Carnival Night, she performed the role of Lenochka Krylova, which conquered the hearts of the audience. In 1958, the film Girl with a Guitar was released, in which the actress performed the main role. Since that time, the image of a singing and dancing actress has been fixed for Gurchenko, but for a ten-year period she is not offered leading roles. The main reason is that the actress refused to cooperate with the KGB, which brought her political disfavor. But still, Gurchenko is removed, brilliantly performing supporting roles and making episodic unforgettable. And only in 1974, in the film Old Walls, the actress was offered the main dramatic role. After the success of this motion picture, Gurchenko performed many more significant roles of various characters.
