Lev Polyakov in the 60-70s was considered one of the most actively filmed actors in the USSR. He came to Russian cinema at the age of thirty, starring for the first time in the role of Lieutenant Baryshev in the film Tales of Lenin (1957). Originally from near Tambov, Lev Polyakov (04.24.1927-26.01.2001) dreamed of being a military man. After school, the future actor entered the aviation technical school, and later studied at the naval school. But all this time he participated in amateur performances, loved the theater and, as a result, became a student of the Moscow Art Theater School. In 1958, Polyakov successfully graduated from VGIK, and he was enrolled in the troupe of the theater-studio of the film actor.

For all the time the actor has played more than sixty diverse roles in the cinema. Very often Polyakov had to play officers, officials, as well as employees of internal organs. Over the years, films with Lev Polyakov, The Case of the Motley (1958), Colleagues (1960), Shot (1966), Messengers of Eternity (1970), Parting (1985) and others, have been released on the screens of the country. But the most striking and memorable were the roles that the actor played in the films The Diamond Arm (captain of the ship) and Shield and Sword (Gerlach), as well as the Kreutzer Sonata (a relative at the wedding) and Liberation (Colonel General Grechko). The fame and love of the audience was brought to Polyakov by the image of Anisim Shatrov - the main character of the film Shadows disappear at noon (1973).

The last film with Lev Polyakov appeared at the box office in 1995. In the melodrama directed by A. Sakharov, the Young Peasant Woman, the actor played Lev Dmitrich Kolbin.

Tall, handsome and slender Polyakov has always been in the spotlight of women. At one time he was admired by L. Gurchenko, L. Golubkina, N. Fateeva. But he chose a VGIK student, Inna Vykhodtseva, as his wife. The couple lived together for almost fifty years. The parents' pride and hope was the only son Nikita, who disappeared without a trace during the tsunami in the Dominican Republic. Lev Polyakov could not come to terms with the loss of his son and died of a stroke on January 26, 2001.
