Andrei Rostotsky was born on January 25, 1957 in Moscow, in the family of film director S. I. Rostotsky and actress N. E. Menshikova. He graduated from the English special school No. 64 (now No. 1264). At school, he received the nickname "Rabid", because, despite his small stature, he could fight any offender.
In 1974, continuing his studies in the tenth grade, secretly from his parents he entered the acting workshop of S.F.Bondarchuk as a volunteer at VGIK. After graduating from school, he continued his stationary studies at the acting department, then for the first time he starred in a movie in the film "We Didn't Pass It". Without interrupting his studies at the institute, he actively acted in films, missed classes, for which he was presented for expulsion. Spas Rostotsky the prize he received at the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography for the role of Mitya Krasikov in the film We Didn't Pass It.
In Sergei Bondarchuk's film They Fought for the Motherland, he performed his first trick (his hero dies under a tank), until now no one has repeated this trick. He served in the Soviet Army (1978-1980). He served in the Separate Cavalry Regiment on a horse Record, with which he won the regimental competition dedicated to Victory Day. This horse was Andrey's "partner" on the set of the film "The End of the Taiga Emperor". While serving in the army, Rostotsky starred in the film "Squadron of flying hussars." In 1994 he organized the film company "Dar" (Friends of Andrey Rostotsky) for the filming of a film about Ancient Russia - "Tmutarakan". He began teaching stage combat and fencing at the Moscow Commercial Institute of Contemporary Art.
Since 1995, he has participated in the creation of historical and publicistic programs about the Russian and Russian armies.
In 1995-1996. was the chief director of the programs "Aty-bata ...".
Since 1997 - instructor at the VITALIS survival school, deputy general director of the Russian Expeditions and Travel Fund.
In 1998, together with the founder of "VITALIS" V. Sundakov, he conducted an expedition "In search of traces of the Cimmerian civilization" through the Crimean caves (about which the film "The Country of Conan the Barbarian" was shot by the NTV film company) and crossed the United States by car "from corner to corner" (New York – Texas – San Francisco).
Since 1998 - the host of the military-historical magazine "I See the Target" (Kultura TV channel).
In 1998 he won the races for the Venedikt Erofeev Prize at the Central Moscow Hippodrome (distance 400 meters).
In 2000 he began teaching acting at the Moscow Commercial Institute of Contemporary Art.
Since February 2001 he has been the host of the "I Serve Russia" program (ORT TV channel). Since 2001, he became the chief director of the equestrian theater "Stuntman".

He owned the craft of a cabinet-maker: home furniture, pipes and mouthpieces.
Tragically died on May 5, 2002, falling from a 30-meter height from a cliff near the Maiden's Tears waterfall. Andrey chose filming locations in the mountainous part of the outskirts of the city of Sochi for the film "My Border". According to some reports, the actor was intoxicated, but television programs in which eyewitnesses of the tragedy and those who were with Andrei Stanislavovich the day before, proved that he did not touch alcohol either that evening or on the day of his death. It was an accident that ended in tragedy.
Buried in Moscow, at the Vagankovskoye cemetery.
In 2003, friends created the Rostotsky Foundation to implement the unfinished projects of Andrey Rostotsky.
