Christopher Walken was born in March 1943 in Queens (at birth his parents christened him Ronald, but in 1966, on the advice of a friend, changed his name to Christopher). From an early age he starred in various TV shows. At the age of 18, like most of his peers, he began studying at the university (where he also met the future star Liza Minnelli). Soon, for reasons known only to him, he stopped appearing in an educational institution.
At first he trained lions, then, until 1966, he traveled around the United States, participating in dance shows, and in 1966 he first appeared on the Broadway stage, playing one of the roles in the lion in winter.
