Jean Bengighi, French actor, was born on April 8, 1944 in Oran (Algeria). He is the father of singer Anthony Leonpole.
He appears for the first time on the screen in the film dedicated to the era of the Calvinists "Les Camisards" directed by Rene Allo (1972). In 1976, he starred in a film about his homeland in Laurent Eyneman's "La Question", a drama that takes place during the war in Algeria. In 1979, while still in a dramatic direction, he is embodied in Jean-Jean in "La Derobade".
Jean Bengighi took the first step towards the light genre with Bertrand Blier's 1979 film Buffet froid. Two years later, begins a long collaboration with director Alexander Arkadi in Grand Pardon, in 1983 in Le Grand Carnaval.
