Juozas Budraitis was born in Lipinai village. In 1946, the family moved to Klaipeda, and ten years later - to the city of Sveksne. In the ninth grade, Juozas was expelled from school for "hooliganism". In fact, the teenager was not a rowdy, but he was sharp on his tongue and asked uncomfortable questions. After serving in the army, Budraitis entered the legal department of Vilnius University. Three years later, he was unexpectedly invited to appear in the film Nobody wanted to die. The role of Juozas Budraitis was one of the main ones and brought him great popularity. The young man moved to the correspondence department, and began to actively act in films in the USSR and abroad. After graduating from the institute in 1969, he worked at the Lithuanian film studio.
In 1976 he entered the two-year courses in stage and acting skills at the USSR State Film Agency, where his teachers were Konchalovsky, Mitta and Tarkovsky. At the end of the course, he was invited to the Kaunas Theater. For ten years of work in the drama theater, the roles of Juozas Budraitis have been diverse and interesting. Since 1996 he worked as a cultural attache in Russia. According to Lithuanian law, after the age of 70, a citizen cannot hold a leading position, and after fifteen years of work, Juozas Stanislavas returned to Lithuania.
The People's Artist of Lithuania has more than one hundred and twenty roles, and he continues to play in the theater and actively appear on television. Budraitis has won many awards from the Russian, Ukrainian and Lithuanian governments.
