In July 1951, a talented film and theater actor, Geoffrey Roy Rush, was born in the north-east of Australia. Growing up in an ordinary family of an accountant and a saleswoman, Jeffrey felt a passion for art from childhood. When his parents divorced, he moved to the city of Brisbane, where he graduated from the Faculty of Art History in
University of Queensland. After graduation, Geoffrey Rush rented an apartment next door to famous actor Mel Gibson and worked in the theater.
Periodically playing in performances, Rush does not stop studying and has been studying acting for two years at the courses of the notorious Jacques Lecoq in France. Thanks to his talent and diligence, the actor shone in the best theatrical productions - King Lear, Uncle Vanya, Waiting for Godot and others. The greatest number of awards and critical acclaim for Rush was brought to the main role in the production of the Madman's Note based on the novel by N.V. Gogol.
Not left unnoticed, Geoffrey Rush's theater roles certainly paved the way for him in film art. Having played just a couple of films in 15 years, in 1996 Jeffrey literally explodes Hollywood with his lead role in the biography-drama Shine, which tells the difficult life story of the great Australian pianist David Helfgott. This challenging and dramatic role earned the actor such awards as BAFTA, Golden Globe and even Oscar. After a bright triumph, Jeffrey moves away from the theater and turns his attention to cinema. One after another, films with Geoffrey Rush begin to come out - Shakespeare in Love, Frida, The King says, Best Offer and many others. Despite the considerable number of roles, Jeffrey was remembered by all viewers, playing the role of Captain Barbarossa in the adventure blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean.
Being an exemplary family man, the actor has been married to actress Jane Menelos since 1988 and has two children with her - a son and a daughter.
