Kevin MacDonald was born on October 28, 1967 in Glasgow, Scotland. He is the grandson of actress Wendy Orme and Hungarian-born British director, producer and screenwriter Emeric Pressburger. Kevin's brother, Andrew, chose the profession of a film producer. Kevin attended the prestigious Scottish boarding school Glenalmond College. In the next film, 'Touching the Void' in 2003, Kevin told the story of the disastrous attempt by two climbers to conquer the top of Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes in 1985.
