Born January 21, 1969, Tahiti, French Polynesia - film and television actress, singer, musician.

Karina Lombard's mother, Nupuri Lightfoot, was an immigrant from the Lakota Sioux tribe living on the island of Tahiti. Her father, Henry Lombard, was a European aristocrat. When Karina was one year old, her parents divorced. Then her father, who had Russian, Italian and Swiss roots, moved Karina and her sisters and brother, Helen, Ines, Denis and Charles to his mansion in Barcelona, ??Spain.

Karina was sent with her sisters and brother to Calvinist boarding schools in Switzerland. Growing up in boarding schools, far from the mainstream, Karina saw her first film only when she was 8 years old. The film she went on was called Donkey Skin, starring Catherine Deneuve. After watching this film, Karina realized: this is what she would like to do.

At age 11, Karina was sent to Vinet, a boarding school in Lausanne, where, she said, "being an American Indian meant you were treated like a savage." But thanks to her participation in school plays, she quickly earned the respect of her classmates. Over the years, she has learned Spanish, English, Italian, French and German.

After graduating from Vineth at age 18, she settled in Manhattan where she was accepted into the famous Actors Studio. There, the girl was spotted by photographer Bruce Weber, who was looking for new faces for Calvin Klein's "Native Americans" campaign. Thus, Lombard got into the modeling business. She soon graced the pages of Elle and Vogue magazines.

At the same time, Karina played in New York City's Gallery Theaters and the Neighborhood Playhouse Theater.

On the cover of 20 Ans, Karina was spotted by the producer and director of the French-Canadian adventure film The Island (L'Isle) and offered her the lead female role. Lombard's debut on the big screen took place in 1991 - it was a small role in Oliver Stone's film "The Doors". And in 1993, she got her first leading role in the John Dygan film "The Endless Sargasso Sea", where she embodied the image of Antoinette Cosway. The role of Karina received rave reviews from critics such as Roger Ebert and William Burrill. She also won the First American in the Arts Awards as a Native American Actress.

Later there were small but memorable roles in "The Firm" and in "Legends of the Fall," in which Karina played the wife of Brad Pitt - Isabel II Decker Ludlow. Lombard's next major role was Zareta (the main female character) in the film Kull the Conqueror (1997). It is noteworthy that the actress performed all the stunts herself.

When it comes to television work, in 2000 Karina appeared in an atypical guise of a police inspector in the film Murder at the Cannes Film Festival. And in 2001, Lombard received the FAITA Award for her role as Inspector in the Special Prize for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Television Film.

A surge of remarkable interest from the viewer audience to Karina Lombard arose after the release of the instantly popular TV series about the life of a group of lesbian friends and their environment “Sex in another city” (“the l word”), in which she created the enchanting image of Marina - a woman , who opened up another world for one of the key characters of the 1st season Jenny (Mia Kirshner).

For her role as Marina Karina Lombard received another First American in the Arts (FAITA Award) (2005).

Lombard was withdrawn from the cast of the show after the first season, according to one version, due to the fact that her character unexpectedly turned out to be much more popular and significant than the creators originally planned.

Lombard has hinted that she is bisexual. Later, in 2006, she posed nude in six pages of the illustrated Playboy magazine, where she appeared as a lesbian couple in both male and female guises. It was her own idea.
