Her acting career started when she was still a child with participation in vaudeville on Broadway, and then the first roles in silent films followed. In the early 1930s, she signed a contract with Fox Film, and began to receive larger and more serious roles.
Throughout the decade, Helen Mack actively starred in Hollywood, playing in such films as "The Silent Witness" (1932), "While Paris Sleeps" (1932), "Son of Kong" (1933), "Kiss and Paint Your Lips" (1934) , Shea (1935), Milky Way (1936) and His Girlfriend Friday (1940). In the following years, Mack almost did not act in film, working in radio and television as a producer, director and screenwriter.
Helen Max has been married twice. From her first spouse, Charles Irwin, with whom she was married from 1935 until her divorce in 1938, she gave birth to a son. She also gave birth to a son from her second husband, Thomas McAvity, whom she married in 1940. Her second marriage lasted until McEvity's death in 1974. The actress herself died of cancer in 1986 in Beverly Hills at the age of 72. For her contributions to cinematography, Helen Mac received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
