Born 7 October 1961, Berlin - German actor.
Matthias Brandt is the youngest of the three sons of the former Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Willie Brandt and his wife Ruth. Matthias' older brothers - historian Peter Brandt and writer and cinematographer Lars Brandt.
Matthias Brandt studied drama at the Hanover School of Music, Theater and Media. He started as an actor in the troupe of the Oldenburg State Theater in 1985, also served in theaters in Wiesbaden, Mannheim, Bonn, Berlin, Zurich, Bochum and Frankfurt am Main.
Since 2000, he regularly appears on television. In 2003, he starred in the television film In the Shadow of Power, which tells the story of his father's last days as Federal Chancellor, playing the role of Gunther Guillaume. Since 2010, he starred in the role of the Munich Police Commissioner Gunns von Moyfels in the series Police Telephone 110, for which he was awarded the Bambi Prize and the Bavarian Television Prize. In 2013 Matthias Brandt won the Deutscher Fernsehpreis national television award. The actor is married and has a daughter.
