Marion Vernu - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, Writer, Director, Actress.

Born June 29, 1966, Montreuil-sous-bois, France - French director, screenwriter and actress.

The start of her creative career took place in the late 1980s, for the first time Marion acted as an assistant in the film "N'importe quoi" (1987). During the same period, Vernu worked for Flammarion.

In 1990, Marion co-wrote with director Bernard Schmidt in a comedy film about the adventures of a French waitress in a Los Angeles-based Pacific Palisades, starring Sophie Marceau. A year later, Vernu shot the television film Pierre qui roule, which already clearly showed the director's style and passion for unusual situations.

In 1994, Marion completed her first feature film, the comedy Nobody Loves Me, starring Bernardette Lafon and Bulle Ogier. Vernu co-wrote the script with Nicholas Herrera. Marion's debut film won the Best Debut award at the Cesar Awards. Professional critics praised the young director's first tape, just like her next picture, the Love Plus melodrama, which was released two years later (in 1996). Charlotte Gainsbourg and Ivan Attal starred. Marion worked with Dodin Erry on the script for the film, and the story is based on the bestselling novel by the English writer Julian Patrick Barnes "Love and so on" ("Love, etc" is the film's title of the same name). In the same year, Marion performed one of the roles in the comedy Dodin Erri “Je n'en ferai pas un drame”, and also acted as one of the ten directors of the film “Love must be reinvented” about the relationship between the sexes in our difficult era.

In 1998, Vernou wrote the script for two films - the comedy by Stefan Clavier "The Way Is Free" and the melodrama "Venus Beauty Salon" by Tony Marshall, starring Audrey Tautou. In parallel with this, Marion worked on the creation of her new film, which was released in 1999. The drama "From Nothing to Do" premiered in September. The main roles were played by Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi and Patrick DellIsola. In the same year, the director completed work on the short film "Scenarios sur la drogue: Drugstore" and began to work on the detective series "Scenarios for Drugs".

A year later (in 2001) Vernu nominated the drama “Queens for a Day” with Karin Viard and Helene Fillier in the lead roles, according to her own script (in collaboration with Natalie Christie). And three years later, she presented comedy lovers with another new film - "Drink to the Bottom" with Emmanuelle and Eduard Bear.

After four years of creative lull, Marion is back with the television drama Rien dans les poches (Empty Pockets). A few years later, she released the drama Better Days Ahead (2013), where the main character Carolina (played by Fanny Ardant), overcoming her personal drama, finds a new impetus to life.
