Born March 21, 1933, Swansea, Wales - British politician and businessman.
Studied and graduated from Oxford University. He served in the army for a short time. In the 1950s, he co-founded the private media company Cornmarket Press, which worked in the media industry. In 1964, the partners divided their business and half of the media business that Heseltine inherited was the Haymarket Press, which Heseltine directly managed in 1964-1970. In the 1960s, Heseltine grew rich and became a millionaire. Then Heseltine built a political career and held posts in the UK government, and only returned to direct management of his company Haymarket Media Group in 1999. He is considered one of the 200 richest people in the UK, in 2004, Heseltine's fortune was about 240 million pounds sterling. In the 1966 general election, Heseltine was first elected to the House of Commons of the British Parliament from the Tavistock constituency in Devon. In 1970 he was re-elected from the same constituency. From 1970 to 1974 - held junior ministerial posts in the government of the Conservative Edward Heath. In the parliamentary elections of 1974, he was again elected a member of the House of Commons, as a representative of the Conservative Party of Great Britain, but already from the Henley constituency in Oxfordshire, and after that he was re-elected five more times from the same constituency until 2001.
From 1979 to 1983 he was Secretary of State for the Environment in the Cabinet of Ministers of Margaret Thatcher.
From 1983 to 1986 he served as British Secretary of Defense, but in 1986 he was forced to resign. Later, Heseltine strongly criticized the Thatcher government and refused to support the Thatcher government's 1989 poll tax. In November 1990, Heseltine challenged Thatcher's leadership in the Conservative Party and fought for the leadership of the party, which led to Thatcher's resignation, but Heseltine did not become party leader. New Conservative Prime Minister John Major re-appointed Heseltine as Secretary of State for the Environment (1990-1992), then President of the Board of Trade (1992-1995) and Deputy Prime Minister of Great Britain (1995-1997) .
On 12 July 2001, Heseltine left his seat in the House of Commons and entered the House of Lords.
