January 13, 1919 - May 14, 2003 - American film, television and voice actor, television presenter.
Was born in Los Angeles. Soon his first name, Charles, chosen by his mother, was changed at the behest of his father to Robert. When the boy was only a year old, his parents divorced, Stack stayed with his mother, Mary Elizabeth (nee Wood). Almost immediately after birth, at the age of three, he was transported to Europe, where he perfectly learned French and Italian, English became his only third language, Stack began to study it only at the age of six. In 1928, Robert's father, James Langford, a thriving advertising agency owner, passed away. His first and third names, Charles and Modini, the actor received in honor of his maternal grandfather, Charles Wood, who performed under the stage name Modini. Robert Stack was fond of clay pigeon shooting, and achieved significant success in it. Graduated from Bridgewater State University and the University of Southern California. For the first time on the screen, Robert Stack appeared in 1939 in the film "First Ball", where his partner was a young, but already famous actress Dina Durbin, it was with Robert that this actress made her first on-screen kiss. This year began Robert's acting career, interrupted by military service (US Navy gunner) in 1942-1947, and for 62 years he appeared in almost a hundred films and TV series. In the early 1940s, Stack had a short-lived affair with actress Mary Beth Hughes. In 1956, he married the actress Rosemarie Bowe, with whom he lived until his death. From marriage with her, Robert left two children: son Charles Robert and daughter Elizabeth Wood.
In the fall of 2002, Robert Stack was diagnosed with prostate cancer, treatment was prescribed, but on May 14, 2003, the actor died of myocardial infarction. Buried at Westwood Cemetery.
