Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, her family fled their home country due to the Afghan war when she was still a child. They arrived in the United States, where they received asylum as political refugees. Ganizada grew up in a multi-cultural conservative family; she has two sisters and her parents divorced when she was still in high school. Ghanizada graduated from James Madison High School in Vienna, Virginia and received a degree in English and Communication from Virginia Tech.
