Born October 18, 1975, New Orleans - American novelist, screenwriter, and producer.
According to Nick himself, his childhood, even after moving to a rural suburb of Lake Charles in the same Louisiana, was not easy - a poor, hard-working, Catholic family surrounded by poor, drinking, aggressive and cheating neighbors. Fanatical religiosity, general illiteracy and violence in everyday life is a wild place, I had to learn to fend for myself. I wanted to break out of this situation, Nick moves away from his parents, graduates from St. Louis Catholic High School in 1993, leaves home and never returns to Lake Charles.
Growing up without books or other intellectual support, but surrounded by nature, Nick became interested in art. He received his knowledge at three educational institutions: the University of Arkansas, McNeese State University and Louisiana State University. After successfully completing his studies, he taught at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, then at the University of Chicago and DePauw.
As a teacher, he wrote two books and left the teaching career in 2010. Galveston became the first novel of the future screenwriter. The American publishing house "Scribner" in New York appreciated the writer's works and published the book. In 2011, the American television company AMC offered to write a plot for two episodes of the crime drama "Murder" .
In 2012, he created a dark and not rosy story about two servants of the law "True Detective". The rights to use the script were bought by HBO, which later named Nick as executive producer of the upcoming anthology television series. The series, released in early 2014, received widespread recognition from both viewers and critics, receiving several prestigious awards, and the channel extended True Detective for a second season, which premiered in the summer of 2015. Nick Pizzolatto re-wrote the scripts for all episodes while retaining the production functions as well.
