Born August 22, 1945, Mount Vernon, New York, USA - American screenwriter, producer, director and actor, known for a number of popular television series.
He spent his childhood on the streets of New Jersey. In his youth, he dreamed of becoming a musician, for two years he played percussion instruments in a group organized with friends, but then decided to devote himself to the art of cinema and transferred to New York University for the film production department, which his parents vehemently opposed.
Inspired by Public Enemy in 1998, Chase set about creating his most famous creation, The Sopranos, many of which were inspired by personal experience. For example, the prototype of Livia Soprano was his own mother, who likewise had a difficult character and was subject to frequent hysterical and passive-aggressive moods.
In 2002 he received the Edgar Allan Poe Prize for his work.
He has received numerous Emmy awards for his services to American television.
