Born September 24, 1948, is an American actor best known for his role as detective Greg Medavoy in the long-running ABC television series NYPD, where he starred for twelve seasons, from 1993 to 2005. In 1998 he won an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series for his role in the show, and in 1995 he won the United States Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series.
Gordon Clapp was born in North Conway, New Hampshire and studied acting in Canada, where he began his career in the theater scene. His first major role was on the Canadian sitcom Check It Out! in 1985-1988, after the closure of which he moved to the United States, where he played several dozen roles on television and in films.
On the big screen, Clapp has played prominent roles in the films The Eight Out of the Game (1988), The Rules of Battle (2000), The Moonlight Mile (2002), Flags of Our Fathers (2006) and The Game Plan ( 2007). In addition to his role in NYPD, he has appeared in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Deadwood, Criminal Minds, and Skirmish in recent years, and returned to regular work in 2013. on television with a role in Frank Darabont's series Lost Angels.
