Born January 3, 1950, Fukuoka, Japan - American actress.
After graduating from high school in 1968, Principal entered Miami Dade College with the intention of studying medicine. Several months before completing her first year of school, she was seriously injured in a car accident on her way home from the library. Another driver was convicted of drunk driving and was serving a prison sentence. After several months of recovery from the accident, she faced the prospect of having to take the first course over again. After some time, she decided to quit her studies and moved to New York to start an acting career. After she graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, and in 1971 she moved to Los Angeles.
Victoria Principal starred in several Hollywood films early in her career, most notably The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean, 1972, in which she starred opposite Paul Newman. Principal received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the film. The following year, she starred in the disastrous film Naked Monkey, and in 1974 in the disaster film Earthquake. Later, dissatisfied with the roles and films offered to her, Principal decided to retrain as a producer and left the screens for several years. In 1977, Aaron Spelling offered her a role in his new series Fantasy Island, but she refused. The following year, the actress got her most famous role in her career - Pamela Barnes Ewing in the television series Dallas. Following the success of Dallas, Principal became one of the most popular television stars of the period, with a special tabloid focus on her personal life and rumors about the actress. In 1983, she received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Television Series - Drama for her role in a series. After nine years on the show, she left the show in 1987 and has continued to act, mainly in made-for-television films, trying to move away from her character in Dallas .
In 1987, Principal opened her own production studio, Victoria Principal Productions, which directed television films and other products. Two years later, she created a skincare company that was extremely successful commercially with an annual turnover of over $ 100 million a year by the end of the 2000s. Principal is also a successful author, she has published three books on personal care: The Body Principal (1983), The Beauty Principal (1984) and The Diet Principal (1987). She published her fourth book, Living Principal, in 2001, which peaked at number one on The New York Times bestseller list.
