Born April 27, 1962, Seoul, South Korea - South Korean actor.

Choi Min-sik is one of the most famous Korean actors both at home and abroad. Choi began his career as a theater actor, after which he began acting in films. In 1999, he starred as a North Korean agent in the highly acclaimed film Shiri.

In the 2000s, Choi continued to act in a variety of roles: he played a gangster in Faylan and then a 19th century artist in Strikes of Fire. In 2003, he played Oh Dae Soo in the internationally acclaimed film Oldboy.

In 2006, Choi Min-sik (and other Korean actors and directors) protested in Seoul and at the Cannes Film Festival against South Korea's decision to cut temporary quotas for screening South Korean films in the country from 146 to 73 days.

In November 2008, when Universal confirmed its desire to film a Hollywood adaptation of Oldboy, Choi admitted to French reporters that he was frustrated with Hollywood's policy of pressuring Asian and European directors to remake foreign films in the United States. In 2010, Choi starred in Kim Ji Woon's thriller I Saw the Devil, playing a psychopathic maniac.
