Joanna "JoJo" Levesky - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, actress.

Born December 20, 1990, Brattleboro, Vermont is an American singer and actress.

The parents of the future star divorced when little Joanna was only four years old. Subsequently, Joanna was raised by her mother. Her childhood nickname JoJo became her stage name a few years later.

According to the singer's mother, Joanna first sang at the age of two years and three months. As a child, she willingly took part in various festivals and in local professional theatrical performances. At the age of seven, the girl took part in the show "Kids Say the Darnedest Things: On the Road in Boston", where she sang a song from Cher's repertoire, after which she began to appear on television. Later she was called to The Oprah Winfrey Show, where she performed several songs from the Whitney Houston repertoire.

Initially, the singer's musical career could begin at the age of 7, when a very young JoJo was offered a contract by a certain recording studio (which studio made the offer, the singer subsequently did not disclose). But these undertakings were cut short by the singer's mother, deeply convinced that her daughter was too young for a musical career. When the girl was 12 years old, she took part in the America's Most Talented Kid children's song contest, in which, unfortunately, she could not win. Producer Vincent Herbert contacted her after being on the show and asked her to audition for Blackground Records. The young singer accepted the offer and the audition was great. Joanna signed to Blackground Records and Da Family Entertainment, taking on her childhood nickname, JoJo, as her stage name.

On February 24, 2004 she presented her first single from her debut album - Leave (Get out) to a wide audience. The song became fateful for JoJo - the song instantly soared to the top of the American Top 40 Mainstream chart, after which the singer went on a promo tour of supermarkets. The music video for the song received a Best Debutant nomination at the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards. The next single - "Baby It's You" - also showed great results in the US charts. Both singles have been certified gold by the RIAA. The third single, "Not That Kinda Girl", released exclusively outside of the United States, was rather mediocre, unlike its counterparts. As a result, the debut album "JoJo" was released on June 22, 2004 and started at number four on the Billboard 200. As time went on, the album went platinum in the US and Canada. and gold in the UK. More than three million CDs have been sold worldwide.

In the summer of 2006, after a year's lull, the young singer released the single “Too little too late”. The song started from the sixty-sixth place in the Billboard Hot 100. A new record of the hit parade was set - in a week "Too little too late" rose from 66th position to 3rd (the previous record holder was Mariah Carey, whose song " Loverboy "soared from 60th place to 2nd). The composition received several music awards and made the singer famous far beyond the borders of the United States. The next single "How to Touch a Girl" was released only in the USA, where it suffered a complete commercial collapse. The singer's second album, "The High Road", was released on October 17, 2006. At the end of the year, The High Road received RIAA gold certification. More than 550 thousand copies of the album were sold in the USA, in the world about two million CDs were sold.

At the end of 2007, the singer announced that she had started work on her third album. At the end of 2008, twenty of the songs she had recorded for the third album were stolen from the studio and posted on the Internet. In the spring of 2009, JoJo expressed her desire to work with Intescope Records, which offered her an exclusive contract. The young singer started having problems with record labels. In October 2009, JoJo filed a lawsuit against record label Da Family Entertainment, accusing the label management of putting her in a musical limbo. According to the singer, the management refused to break the contract with her, but at the same time did not give her the opportunity to record a new album. As a result, JoJo won the case, receiving $ 500,000 and the right to terminate the contract with the label. In late 2009, JoJo signed an official contract with Interscope Records.

In 2010, the singer released the mixtape "Can't Take That Away from Me" ahead of the anticipated release of her third album. However, due to some problems, the prepared material, which was under the auspices of her former label, was never released.

JoJo released the song "Disaster", which became the official first single from her upcoming album "Jumping Trains". The single was released in August 2011. The single debuted at # 87 on the Billboard Hot 100. A video clip was filmed for the song, released in November 2011. In early 2012, the singer presented the second single from her third album, "Sexy To Me". Album "Jumping Trains" is expected in March-April this year. As the label continued to delay the release of the album, JoJo began recording new material specifically for the mixtape so as not to keep fans waiting for her music. The second free mixtape Agape (which means "unconditional love" in Greek) was released on December 20, the singer's birthday. As the label situation continued to worsen, on July 30, JoJo finally filed a lawsuit against Blackground Records, stating, that according to the laws of New York, her contract was supposed to expire back in 2011.

On August 21, 2015, JoJo presented an EP titled III (which means tringle). The tringle included 3 songs. When Love Hurts, Say Love, Save My Soul. When Love Hurts was selected as the EP's lead single and was broadcast on radio on November 17, 2015. On September 28, 2015, the official video for When Love Hurts was released. A month later, on October 27, 2015, JoJo released the video for "Say Love". The final video clip from EP was Save My Soul, which was released on January 8, 2016. None of the EP's singles will appear on Mad Love's third studio album, which will be released on October 14, 2016.
