Born November 16, 1954, Ashland, Kentucky is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, and actress.

At twelve years old, Allison was brutally raped. Subsequently, in 2001, she shot the film Beyond the Sun, part of the filming took place in the house where it happened. The film was nominated for an Emmy Award. At the age of 15, she and her family moved to Los Angeles, Anders suffered from a mental disorder and was placed in a clinic upon her return from which she was placed in an orphanage from which she escaped and hitchhiked around the country. At 17, Anders dropped out of high school in Los Angeles and moved to Kentucky with the man who was the father of her first child. At 18, Ellison moved to the UK and returned from there as a single mother. She settled in California, worked as a waitress and attended UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television in Los Angeles. where she won a $ 20,000 scholarship for the Lost Highway script. As a student, she became interested in the work of Wim Wenders and after numerous letters and requests, she was hired as assistant director for the film "Paris, Texas". One of her first films "Gasoline, Food, Housing" was awarded several nominations and clearly demonstrated that Ellison had her own view of cinema and representation of reality.
