Born in Detroit, Michigan, USA is an American screenwriter and journalist.
grew up in Littleton, Colorado and began his career at The Boston Phoenix, where he eventually became editor-in-chief and film critic. In 1983 he became a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism. In the same year, Schiff was named a critic for Vanity Fair, a position he held until 1992.
He made his film debut with a script for the film "Lolita" (1997).
