Prior to starting his acting career, at the insistence of his mother, Jalil studied law. In 1995, Lespert made his acting debut in Laurent Kante's short film Beach Games, where he worked on the set with his father. In 1999, he played his first leading role in Jacques Mailllot's French melodrama Our Happy Days. The actor gained popularity thanks to the leading role in the film by Laurent Kante "Human Resources" (1999).
