Born June 9, 1961 in Edmonton, Canada, better known as Michael J. Fox, is a Canadian-American actor, writer, activist, producer, film and television director. Started acting back in the 1970s, but is best known for playing the role of Marty McFly in the fantastic trilogy "Back to the Future", as well as the series "Family Ties", which aired from 1982 to 1989, for the role in which the actor won three Emmy Awards, one Golden Globe, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards .
In 1991, the actor was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, which Fox publicly admitted in 1998.
