After serving in the Australian Army, he took up selling cars in order to somehow live, but his dream was to become a male model in London, where he arrived in 1964 (Ian Fleming died that same year) .
He immediately took off to the top of the modeling business without any experience. The search for a new actor for the role of Bond began in 1968, when Sean Connery turned down the role. Lazenby participated in commercial television, where he was very popular thanks to the program "Big Fried Chocolate". This helped him land the role of Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service .
Lazenby was one of the contenders for the Bond role alongside John Richarson, Anthony Rogers, Robert Campbell and Hans Vries. But it was Lazenby who got this role thanks to the trial with the fight scene.
He played the role of James Bond with enthusiasm and skill. There were many conflicts during filming - Lazenby had a strained relationship with director Peter P. Hunt and Bond's girlfriend, star Diana Rigg. Connery is back in the next movie.
In the early 1970s, Lazenby was working in Hong Kong and was planning to make a film with Bruce Lee before the actor died unexpectedly. He starred in several more films on television, and had several minor roles in major films in the early 90s.
