The Wakefield group is practically a bunch of relatives from Mechanicsville, Maryland. It is composed of two brothers Ryan and Aaron Escolopio, their cousin Mike Schoolden and JD Tennyson.
Ryan, JD and Mike formed the team in 2000 with their friend Mark Martinez. The band initially played in local clubs, and in 2001 Wakefield supported Good Charlotte. The constant comparison to GC did them good, as the group was determined to do something to solidify their own name. The final push came from Aaron, who was the drummer for Good Charlotte. To play with his brother, Aaron leaves his group. Wakefield's first performance with a new drummer took place at the famous CBGB in New York on June 6, 2001.
In August of the same year, the band signed a contract with Atlantic Records and recorded material for the first disc. But something did not work out, and Wakefield flew with Atlantic, not having time to release an album. But thanks to Arista Records, the record, called "American Made", was finally released in May 2003. The first single was "Say You Will", which received good rotation. The video for the song was featured frequently on MTV2 and Fuse TV, and was also awarded the Nickelodeon Video Pick of the Week.
"Wild One" (a cover version of Iggy Pop's "Real Wild Child") was featured on the Eurotrip Soundtrack, and the entire group starred in an episode of the New York Minute movie, to which they also recorded a soundtrack cover of David Bowie's "Suffragette City".
Wakefield's second album "Which Side Are You On?" was released via Jive Records on June 14, 2005. The first single from the album was "C'mon Baby".
