Studied at the Lee Strasberg Actors' Studio (New York), and on his return to Chicago, organized a theater improvisation troupe.
Mike Nichols began his career as a comedian and singer, performing in restaurants and cabarets. In 1963 he made his Broadway debut as a director. In 1966 he made his film debut, with the adaptation of the famous drama "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"
One of the few winners of all the major awards in the American entertainment industry: Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammy, Emmy and Tony. His most successful projects are the highly social chamber drama Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966) and the romantic comedy The Graduate (1967), which won him an Oscar for directing, - Nichols directed at the very beginning of his career.
