Emilia McCarthy is a young Canadian actress, dancer and writer. Born August 28, 1997 in London, Ontario, the son of a Canadian writer and a Mexican Spanish teacher. Emilia's mother, Margaret, is Mexican, and Barry McCarthy's father is Canadian, so Emilia considers herself Hispanic. When Emilia was 3 years old, her family moved to Ancaster, Ontario, where her mother worked. Emilia says she is fluent in Spanish and French. She revealed her talents when she was just a child. She enjoys acting, dancing and modeling and sees this as her calling in life. Emilia's grandmother Beatrice said that she is an actress who sings and dances: "I think she was born with this gift."
McCarthy took acting lessons at the Armstrong Acting Class at the Academy of Canada. In one of her interviews, she said: “When I was about 7 years old, waking up one day, I said: Mom, Dad, I want to be an actress!”.
At the age of 8, Emilia had the opportunity to play on the same stage with Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt in the film Babylon. She shared the role with Ellie Faning, playing her doppelganger.
