Born October 1, 1989, Sacramento, California, USA, professionally known as Brie Larson is an American actress, singer, film director and screenwriter.

She is the eldest daughter of Sylvain and Heather Desagne. Her parents were chiropractors and practiced together. They divorced when Bree was still a child. Bree later moved to Los Angeles with her mother and younger sister Milane. Larson studied acting at the American Conservatory of Theater in San Francisco. The first language Bree knew was French. Bree said that she took the pseudonym Larson, because the surname Desagnier (her great-grandmother's maiden name) is quite difficult to pronounce.

Larson's first job was on the talk show Night Show with Jay Leno.

In early 2003, Bree started promoting songs through the site and was already planning to release an album. On August 8, 2003, Bree was signed to Universal Records and Casablanca Records on September 19, 2007. In the same year, she posted another track called "Not Freak" and shot a video for it. The song was available for purchase online. In late spring 2004, Bree deleted all songs on her website due to the end of her label contract and the production of new music for her first album was disrupted. In October 2004, the first single from her debut album, She Said, was made available for streaming through her official website. Bree began promoting the single and soon went on tour. She also sang "Ugly" and "Loser in Me".

Larson appeared on the television series Ghost Whisperer in January 2008.

On September 4, 2015 the film "Room" was released, in which Larson played the main role. The role earned her an Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress.
