Kris Laurence Parker was born on August 20, 1965 in Park Slope, New York, in southern Brooklyn, and has been a rebel since childhood. At the age of 14, in order to get rid of the annoying custody of his mother and the moronic system of New York schools, he left his father's house and for many years lived anywhere, played basketball, became interested in graffiti under the pseudonym KRS-One (this is the so-called acronym and stands for Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone) and read smart books. In the homeless shelter, he was nicknamed Krishna, since Chris was keenly interested in Krishnaism and studied religions in general. The guy was smart beyond his years, although he stole and hooligan no less often than others.
When he finally got a room in a boarding house (something like our dorm, perhaps more comfortable), life became much more fun and there were real friends and colleagues in hip-hop hobby. Next to him lived a young lawyer Scott Sterling, who enthusiastically worked as a DJ in his spare time. When they found common ground, the hip-hop project Boogie Down Productions (BDP) was born. In addition to KRS-One, who had a little experience of reading in the cool 12:41 rap group, and Sterling, who became Scott La Rock, D-Nice also entered the group. And it happened in 1986. Their first two singles "South Bronx" (as a response to MC Shan and Marley Marl's track "The Bridge", which claimed that hip-hop was born in their hometown of Queens) and "Crack Attack" immediately received a permanent spot on the famous radio -DJ Red Alert show and set the stage for a real revolution in hip-hop
