Norwegian black metal band. Satyricon has two permanent members: Satyr (vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards) and Frost (drums), who are joined from time to time by session and live musicians. Satyricon emerged in the early 90s and with its first albums entered the cohort of bands that created the Norwegian black metal scene, often described as the "second wave of black metal". Beginning with the fourth album Rebel Extravaganza, the band's music became more focused on a mass audience, subsequent releases steadily hit the mainstream music charts. Satyricon, along with fellow countrymen Dimmu Borgir, are now one of the most commercially successful bands in their genre.
