October 5, 1957 - August 9, 2008, better known by his stage name Bernie Mac, is an American actor and comedian. Born and raised in Chicago, he began his career as a stand-up comedian, gaining great popularity. Then, in the same genre, he hosted the program "Midnight Mac" on HBO, then on the FOX sitcom "The Bernie Mac Show". He has often played supporting roles in comedy films such as Bad Santa, Charlie's Angels: Only Go, and is also known as one of Ocean's friends in the films of the same name. Since 2005, he hid the sarcoidosis that struck him from everyone; he died in August 2008 from complications after pneumonia.
