Born December 6, 1945, Lahore, Punjab, British India - Indian director, writer, actor and producer.
He received his primary education in New Delhi. Studied at St. Stefan. At 22, Kapoor became a chartered accountant to please his parents.
Shekhar Kapoor began his career working with multi-national oil companies. He moved to the UK in 1970 and worked as an accountant and management consultant for several years.
He began his career as an actor in Jaan Hazir hai (1975) and later in Toote Khilone in Bollywood. He also appeared in several television series. Kapoor made a cameo appearance in Bandit Queen as a truck driver. In 1998, he received international acclaim with an Oscar for the film Elizabeth. In 2002 he was indicted by British tabloids for his portrayal to the English army in the movie Four Feathers. In an unusual role for himself, Kapoor voiced Mahatma Gandhi. Currently, one of the judges on the reality show, India's Got Talent.
