Born May 28, 1978, Chicago, USA - American actor, comedian, producer, screenwriter and director.
Johnson grew up in Evanston, Winnetka, Lincoln Park, and Rogers Park and graduated from New Trier High School. Johnson attended the University of Iowa for two years before moving to New York to study at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and eventually to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. In addition, he has appeared frequently in various comedy shows at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York and Los Angeles over the years. Johnson and Eric Edelstein also performed as a comedy duo, and their sketch show "This Is My Friend" was regularly featured on The Second City in Los Angeles. In 2006, Johnson and Edelstein worked with executive producers Jason Ritter and Simon Helberg. to create a half-hour makeshift TV pilot based on their sketch show.
Johnson has appeared in numerous television and film roles throughout 2006-2010, including guest appearances on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Lie to Me and Remember What Happens. In 2010, Steel Train filmed Johnson in his video for "Ghost Highways," on the Al Scalzo show.
In 2011, he starred in the romantic comedy "More Than Sex" opposite Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher. In 2011, he landed the lead role in the Fox comedy series New Girl, which was one of eight winners in the "Most Exciting New Series" category at the Critics' Choice Television Awards. The premiere of the series was viewed by an audience of 10.28 million and generally received positive reviews from critics.
