In 2009, he began acting in small roles in television films and then landed the lead role in the short film "Le cri de Raphael Mathie" .
In 2012, Ernest was chosen by director Francois Ozon for his film In the House. In this film, he plays the role of Claude Garcia, a sixteen-year-old high school student who is a brilliant manipulator. In this film, he starred alongside such actors as Fabrice Luchini, Emmanuelle Seigner, Yolanda Moreau and Christine Scott Thomas. For this role, he was nominated for the Cesar Film Award in the category of Promising Actor.
