September 3, 1932 - July 28, 2013 - American actress.
Her mother is the silent film actress Jean Manahan. In 1959, thanks to her beautiful soprano voice, she got a small role in the musical "Little Mary Sunshine", and later the role of Irene Mallow in the Broadway musical "Hello, Dolly!" (1964). She made her film debut in 1967 in the movie "American Divorce" .
She soon became one of the most sought-after supporting actresses. A year after her film debut, she became a guest on the comedy show Rowan and Martin Laughter, in which she appeared for two months. In 1973, she performed superbly in the movie "Scam" .
Although her name was almost unknown to the general public, Eileen became the favorite of many directors, including Peter Bogdanovich. In 1971, she appeared in his film The Last Picture Show, and in 1975 in his disastrous musical In a Long Lost Love. In 1980 she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in Private Benjamin, and in 1981 she received an Emmy for the TV version of the film. In 1984 she was hit by a car. Seriously injured, Brennan quit her job for three years. Died July 28, 2013 in Burbank, California, from bladder cancer.
