American-Jewish film and television director and television producer.
His television directing work includes television series such as Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, In Sight, Ellie McBeal, Boston School, Seventh Heaven, An Extraordinary Family, American Horror Story, "Alien City", "Angel", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and others. He has also directed and produced episodes of Life Is a Sentence, House Doctor, American Dreams, Beverly Hills 90210 and Dawson's Creek.
In 2007, Semel was nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Director in a Drama Series for directing the pilot episode of Heroes. He was also nominated last year for his production work on House Dr.
Semel also directed two feature films, Campfire Tales and The Lone Star State.
