Philip's father was a naval officer, he died when the boy was only 2 years old. And at the age of 9 he lost his mother, so Philip was placed in a boarding school.
He made his film debut in 1944. In the 1950s, thanks to his excellent physical characteristics, he became quite famous.
On March 15, 2004, the day after his seventy-seventh birthday, Philippe Lemaire committed suicide by throwing himself under the Paris Metro train.
