Born July 3, 1964, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England, UK - British writer.
The mother is French, the father is English. Joanne attended Wakefield Girls' School, then College in Barnsley, then studied Modern and Medieval Languages ??at St Catherine's College, Cambridge.
After graduating from university, Joanne Harris worked as a salesman, then taught French for 15 years at a school for boys in Leeds, taught a course in French literature at the University of Sheffield.
Joanne Harris's first novel, The Evil Seed (2011 Russian translation, Heavenly Friend) was published in 1989, but neither he nor the second novel Sleep, Pale Sister (1993) did not have much success. However, the third novel, the mystical melodrama Chocolate (Chocolat, 1999), took first place on the Sunday Times bestseller list and was shortlisted by the Whitbread Prize for Novel. The film company "Miramax Films" bought the rights to film adaptation.
In August 2007, Joanne Harris published the first book, Runes, for children and young people.
