Born 1962, Liverpool, Merseyside, UK - British filmmaker.
In 1973-1980 he studied at New Hayes Comprehensive School. He directed the films "Land of Pleasure", "North and South", "Shakespeare in a New Way", "Ruby in the Dark" and "Shop of Antiquities".
In 2001, his nine-minute short film "About a Girl" won a BAFTA Award for Best Short Film and several other awards at various film festivals.
Since 2010, he has starred in seven episodes of the historical drama "Downton Abbey", which aired on the British television channel ITV. This work brought Percival the 2010 BAFTA Craft Award for Best Game Director and the 2011 Emmy Award for Best Miniseries or Film. In 2012, he was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Television Series in Episode 7 of Downton Abbey. In 2013, Percival directed The Book Thief.
