Her father, Abrasha Rotenberg, who emigrated to Argentina from Ukraine in the 1930s, is an editor and journalist; mother, Dina Roth (nee Gutkin, born 1933), - singer, performer of Jewish songs in Ladino of Chilean Sephardic origin
In 1976, she moved from Argentina to Spain with her brother and father, who was pursued by the armed detachments of Montoneros, where she began acting in films. In 1979 she appeared in the film "Flash" by Ivan Sulueta, which quickly became a cult hit. Widely known for her roles in the films of Pedro Almodovar, Roth starred in six of his films, including the director's first full-length film, "Pepi, Lucy, Bom and the rest of the girls" (1980). In 1995, Roth returned to Argentina, starred in Argentine, Spanish and Mexican films and television series, and played in the theater. She starred with Marcelo Pineiro, Daniel Burman, Alejandro Agresti and others. Twice, in 1998 and 2000, she was awarded the Goya Prize for Best Actress in the films of Aristarain and Almodovar. In 1999-2003 she was married to the Argentinean rock musician, composer and film director Fito Paes. Her brother, Ariel Roth (Ariel Eduardo Rotenberg Gutkin, born 1960), is also a famous rock musician, a former member of Tequila and Los Rodriguez.
